Stephen Kovacevich is an American pianist and conductor, who moved to London aged 18 to study under Dame Myra Hess. He is greatly admired for his interpretation of Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart and Schubert. These photos show him rehearsing with Alissa Firsova in 2006.
Alissa Firsova is a Russian-British composer, pianist and conductor born in Moscow in 1986. Seen here rehearsing with Stephen Kovacevich in 2006. He said of her, “Alissa Firsova is a triple threat, pianist-composer-conductor, gifted and interesting in all.” She first met Stephen at a master class at Dartington Summer School in 2000 and he has been her friend and mentor ever since.

Diane Ambache founded the Ambache Mozart Ensemble in 1984 to specifically accompany her in Mozart Piano Concertos. The orchestra is no longer functioning but Ambache is still deeply involved in raising the profile of women composers through the Ambache Charitable Trust.
